Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Good day everyone, I want to let the house know that I had my interview yesterday and got approved. It as a very long wait but at the end it ended beautifully with an approval.

The questions were direct closed end questions

1. Where my spouse stays,

2. Where does my spouse work

3. What do I do for a living

4. Where do I work

5. Where do we plan on settling down in the US?

6. Where did we get married

7. Whey did we get married in my country.

8. Does my spouse have any relatives in my country

9. Have either of us been married before?

10. When was the last time I saw my spouse?

11. How did we meet?

12. What state was my spouse born in the US

They then returned some documents to me and said congratulations, "your visa has been approved". Was also told that my passport and documents will be mailed back to me within 2 wks

A very big thank you to vj forum and every active participant. I am most honoured to have met this grp. I don't know how I wld have endured this long tortuous wait with my mind still intact if not for you all.

This process is a true test of one's patience and I wish everyone who has gone thru this process wld never again in this life time hv their patience tested

HI, everyone, I'm going to share with you the experiance of how my interview went. 11/09/2017

I arrived Riyadh at 7:30 AM (local time), and I had to stay at the airport for the next 4 hours because my interview was at 12:30 PM, I arrived the embassy like 11:50 am, and we had to wait until 12:15 pm to get inside the embassy, they are very strict about the time , they won't let you in until it becomes 12:15 pm.

there will be a very strict inspection of all your belongings once you are inside the embassy, you will go through the metal detector scanner and so all your documents will be going to the X-RAY machine, of course, if you are wondering , can i bring my smartphone?! yes my friend you can bring it , BUT they will confiscate your phone and put it in an envelope and you will get a number , once you are outside the embassy you can claim your phone back. Anyways, I was let go by the guards, I entered the embassy, and took a number, you tell him an immigrant visa and he will give you a number. I sat for 10 minutes and they started calling the numbers in order, you go to window #12 to submit your passport and your appointment letter and you will be told to sit down again until you will be called again.

So my number appeared on the screen, I was called to window #8 where there was an Indian- American or Pakistani-American I don't know exactly! he was a cool guy and kinda funny ! so he asked me do you speak English, I answered yes sir! he said excellent! then he opened my case file which I was surprised by the quantity of paper in my file. The questions he asked me was very little, and it was as follows:

1-who is your petitioner?
2- where do you live?
3- why did you transfer your case from KL to here?
4-how old is your wife?
5- how did you meet?
6-how old I'm?
7-asked me about the name of the mosque we did the (NIkkah).
8-what did I study?
9-Duration of study?
10- do I work?
11-asked me to present the original documents such as (police clearances + original marriage certificate + birth certificate).
12- asked me to show him our wedding pictures. and he took it with my original documents.
13-asked me who came from her side on the day of the wedding and from my side.
14-he showed me a picture from the case file and asked me if it's my wife or not. I told him yes she is.
15-he said give me your medical report.
16-WHERE IS SHE NOW?
17-HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN EACH OTHER?

that's all the questions he asked me, and he told me to have a seat and I will be called soon. I sat for like a half hour, and I was called to window #13 where the consul was waiting for me, and he greeted me, and asked me to raise my right hand and to swear that all these documents I provided and the things I have said is true. I swore. then he took out a paper which is written in it my rights and obligations in the UNITED STATES. I was like OMG OMG I was approved. then the consul asked me 6 questions ONLY. HOW OLD IS YOUR WIFE, WHERE DOES SHE WORK, HOW OFTEN DO YOU COMMUNICATE, WHERE IS SHE NOW, HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN EACH OTHER, HOW LONG YOU ARE MARRIED?!!

AS I WAS ANSWERING HE WAS TYPING IN HIS COMPUTER, AND FINALLY HORAAAAAAY, HE TOLD ME CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED AND YOU WILL BE GETTING YOUR VISA IN TWO WEEKS, WE WILL SEND IT WITH SAMSA, I WAS VERY VERY VERY HAPPY, he gave me back all my original documents except the police certificates and my passport.

ALHAMDULILAH IT WENT WELL, GUYS YOU SHOULD CALM DOWN, NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF, CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS INSHA ALLAH.

I WISH YOU A GOOD LUCK, AND IM SORRY HOW I WROTE THE QUESTIONS, IT WASNT IN THE APPROPRIATE ORDER, BECAUSE IT KEPT COMING TO MY MIND WHILE I WAS TYPING, BUT YOU GOT MY POINT.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Our interview was at Riyadh Embassy on July 12, 2017 at 12:30 PM. It was an exceptionally hot day and we arrived half an hour early at the consulate so we decided to drive around for a bit and get Starbucks. At about 12:10 we went back to the embassy and this time we saw people have started to come in for the interview. We were all told to wait outside the embassy in a closed roof area with fans and water spray so it wasn’t so bad. At 12:15 we lined up and went to the one of the windows located outside of the building, there we showed them our appointment letter and turned in our car keys and cellphones. Then my husband and I walked through two different doors to go through security. Once we cleared security we walked inside the embassy. As soon as we entered a guy sitting at the counter handed us a ticket and told us to take a seat. We waited in the waiting area for about 20 minutes before our number was called in the very last window. A gentleman who appeared to be Indian looked very serious and stern; he took my husband’s appointment letter and passport and told us to have a seat again. We waited about 15 more minutes before we were called in to the same window. The guy took all the original documents and started the interview questions. We were asked basic questions like how did you meet, how long have you been married, where do you work, where you plan to live etc. after questioning he asked for nay supporting documents or pictures. Our wedding album was too big to slide through the window but luckily we had 3 small albums so we handed him that. He flipped through them a few times and then told us to have a seat again. The interview lasted for 30 minutes. Then we waited for 1 HR 30 Minutes and that wait was agonizing if I say so. Finally we were called, this time to another window. It was an American guy this time, he took my husbands oath and said congrats your visa has been approved, please walk back to my coworker’s window. We went back to the Indian guy’s window he handed us all our original documents except for my husband’s passport and the police certificate. We were told we would be contacted within two weeks to pick up the passport and with further instructions on green card fee. Luckily within a week we got a call that our passport is ready for pick up.
